The project Utopia Travel took place from March to July 2002, following two years of preparation phase, on a pre-planned route between Egypt and Austria.

The basic outline of the project Utopia Travel was the transport of a comprehensive selection of VHS videotapes from Cairo to Vienna following the transition from the upper part of the African continent over the Middle East towards central Europe.
A Cairo taxi limousine equipped with video monitors served as a mobile unit transmitting the contents of the video archive on the distances between the capitol cities of the respective countries.
